Dr Andy Lilly confirmed as Chair, Dr Kit Kilgour as Vice-Chair of Secure Chorus’ Standards Committee for 2019

SECURE CHORUS, 11TH JUNE 2019

Secure Chorus is pleased to announce that Dr Andy Lilly of Armour Communications has been re-confirmed as Chair of the Standards Committee of the company for his second year. Secure Chorus has also re-confirmed Dr Kit Kilgour of Sepura as Vice-Chair.

The Standards Committee is appointed by the board of directors of Secure Chorus and serves as a forum for the development, ratification and testing of interoperability standards for information and communication technology – enabled systems, applications and services.

Standards Committee members and their roles are as follows:

Dr Andy Lilly (Armour Communications), Chair

Dr Kit Kilgour (Sepura), Vice-Chair

Elisabetta Zaccaria (Secure Chorus) Chairman of the board of directors

Members: Government and Partner Members of Secure Chorus currently including the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), Vodafone, Telefonica, BAE Systems Applied Intelligence, Leonardo, Sepura, ISARA Corporation, SQR Systems, Armour Communications, Cryptify, Serbus, Harker Labs and Nine23.

“I am delighted to have been asked to continue to head the Secure Chorus focus on standards in the secure comms market,” said Dr Lilly. “Over the past year, the Standards Committee has made key progress in the area of secure voice, but there remains much to be done. I look forward to working with my fellow committee members to publish further standards expanding the capabilities of MIKEY-SAKKE-based systems.”

It’s therefore critical to develop common standards for such technologies that are secure, meet market needs and support growth.” said Elisabetta Zaccaria, Chairman of Secure Chorus. “In 2018 Secure Chorus published its first set of interoperability standards for encrypted voice calls. We have an equally ambitious technology roadmap for 2019 and look forward to another successful year of our Standards Committee under Dr Lilly’s outstanding chairmanship and Dr Kit Kilgour’s vice-chairmanship.”

Dr Andy Lilly is the Co-Founder and CTO of Armour Communications, which has a record of delivering challenging, leading-edge R&D solutions into global markets. Having led high-tech teams at both multi-national organisations and VC-funded start-ups, Andy has been instrumental in delivering secure communications systems and solutions into military, government and enterprise environments for nearly 30 years. Andy holds a PhD in radar modelling from UCL and a B.Eng. Hons. from the University of Surrey.

Dr Kit Kilgour is a Senior Specialist in the Product Strategy division of Sepura. Kit has more than 20 years’ experience working in wireless communications. His standardisation experience includes a range of 3GPP working groups and the Small Cell Forum. He is currently working in 3GPP on the design of secure mission-critical communications systems. Kit has a PhD in mathematics from the University of Cambridge.
