SECURE CHORUS’ EVENT “IMPACT OF GDPR ON CYBER SECURITY: HOW ORGANISATIONS WILL NEED TO PROTECT THEIR DATA”
SECURE CHORUS, 21ST SEPTEMBER 2017
Secure Chorus’ event “Impact of GDPR on cyber security; how organisations will need to protect their data” will take place on the 10th October 2017 from 09.30hrs at Sandbox 2, Level39, One Canada Square, Canary Wharf, London E14 5AB.
Implementing the GDPR is a board level issue for organisations. This session has been designed to help C-suite in gaining a broad understanding of data protection in the context of GDPR.
The GDPR marks a huge increase in regulatory risk. Anti-trust style fines of up to 4% of global annual turnover for a wide range of breaches. This means that organisations need to give privacy compliance a higher priority.
GDPR is related to the processing and recording of personal data and it requires additional data security requirements organisations need to comply with. The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will take direct effect in EU Member States on 25 May 2018. Local data protection laws will fill remaining gaps.
Our speakers will describe the expectations and intent of this new regulation in the context of information security and data protection. This event will include key speakers who have vast experience in the legal and cyber security sectors.
The event will hear from Dr Sam De Silva, Partner at the leading international law firm, CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang LLP. Sam is named in Who’s Who Legal: TMT 2017 as one of the world’s leading TMT lawyers and regularly advises on data protection, privacy and cyber-security issues.
Our Panel will include Dr Andy Lilly, Co-founder and CTO at Armour Communications a leading provider of secure communication for government and enterprise, Chris Matthews, Programme Manager Secure Communication Leonardo MW a key industrial player focused on its core business of security, defence and aerospace, Alistair Kellie, Founding Partner of Newgate Communications, an award-winning integrated communication agency focusing on corporate communication and brand reputation as well as other corporate communication aspects and the UK National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC).
